VOC Grad Newsletter

Introduction

Every year, an annual newsletter is sent out by the Archivist to the VOC Alumni. This newsletter is a short recap of the various activities (trips, conservation efforts, workhikes, etc.) that the VOC has being doing over the course of the previous year. In addition, a short notice about the incoming VOC banquet (time and location) and the release of the newest edition of the VOC journal is mentioned. The club's mailing address and prices for a ticket to the Banquet and a copy of the Journal is also incorporated into the newsletter. Thus, the Alumni can simply purchase a ticket and/or a Journal by sending a cheque to the club.

On special occasions, an separate letter can be sent to deal with more pressing matters that cannot be simply covered in the annual recap, as was the case of the publication of the 25^th edition of the VOC Journal.

Before the dawn of the computer age, the newsletters were sent via mail and had to be posted between mid-January and mid-February to allow enough notice time to the Alumni if they wanted to attend the Banquet.
