Talk:Whistler Olympic Park
Paying for Callaghan mainline
You have to pay now to use the Callaghan mainline?? Lame. So you can't easily access the park without paying. Maybe it's worth it to get to the park, but I don't know about shorter trips like up the ridge that we did recently. Scott Webster 09:58, 26 January 2009 (PST)
- Yes, you have to pay if you want to use the groomed trail. I think you can still ski beside the grooming without paying. The road cut is very wide. If you feel like complaining, I would suggest lobbying the government for non-motorized status for areas that we can already access without paying, like Hanging Lake and the north side of Metal Dome. - Yes, that would be nice. I didn't notice how easy it would be to skin up next to the grooming... if that is possible then I'm fine with it. I guess it seems kinda like a bad precedent. If all the logging roads ended up being groomed for XC and charged $6, backcountry access would take a big hit. Scott Webster 10:54, 26 January 2009 (PST)
Flagging
I'm not sure that 100% of our flags are around trunks, but probably a good general guideline. Scott Webster 16:50, 2 February 2009 (PST)
- No, but in the lower section that ben and I flagged they are. There's one part that has all kinds of flags all over the place and we didn't bother to pull all the misleading flags down. Scott Nelson 01:31, 3 February 2009 (PST)
Rules
>This will ensure that no rescues are launched to search for overdue backcountry parties.
Do you mean that no rescues are launched for parties on multi-day trips that leave their car on the parking lot overnight?
I also added that BC and BC N/C are written on the passes at WOP --Bramvs 18:38, 11 February 2009 (PST)
- Yes, you are right. I made it more clear. Without the parking pass, ski patrol is going to assume that any car left in the parking lot after 5pm is a missing XC skier. Scott Nelson 09:29, 12 February 2009 (PST)
