Talk:Trip Agenda

From VOC Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

I suggest that the trip agenda be used for official VOC trips only. Adding all this ACC and BCMC makes things confusing and is redundant. We can still have a link to the ACC and BCMC schedules.

Anyone second this opinion? If so, please go ahead and rework it (it can always be reverted if enough people voice the opposite opionion!)

Chris Michalak 21:47, 4 Apr 2005 (MST)

I'd second that.

Also a couple of other points raised in today's exec meeting:

  1. Summer BBQs should start earlier (end of school)
  2. Spring Rock School?

MattBrown 14:11, 5 Apr 2005 (MST)

Ok, I took the plunge and cleaned things up. There may be a thing or two that I deleted that should be brought back. Go right ahead and do that!

Chris Michalak 21:13, 5 Apr 2005 (MST)

Hey guys, Trish here. Looks good. As for summer BBQ's I didn't want to plan anything that I wasn't going to be here for but if someone would like to set those dates (1st and 3rd wednesday of every month), shout it out REAL loud and get the ahem, VOC hibachi down to the beach then please take the torch. Cheers!

So when is the big "old brew hut smashing and firewood stacking trip" going to happen. We need a big effort in the fall to close out work on the Brew Hut, prerrably after club days for maximum quantity of volunteers.

Also, why 2 dates for Glacier School? Which one is it?

Scott Nelson 22:29, 10 Aug 2005 (MST)

Ooh. there's discussion! I propose keeping track of history here (or eventually on another page), with history in reverse chronological order. I suggest current year events in chron order first, then past years in reverse order..... [cpbl Thu Sep 8 10:14:58 PDT 200]

Clean-up

With the calendar up, I think that I'll clean up the page a bit and transfer the old trips onto each month. I'll just keep the current stuff (this semester). Anyone opposed to it ? Champagne 12:26, 19 October 2006 (MDT)

I like the current format for recent and future trips, but the calender could work well for tracking old trips. Let's see it in action and then we can decide if it's better or worse. Scott Nelson 14:15, 19 October 2006 (MDT)

Ok. Champagne 14:38, 19 October 2006 (MDT)

With all the trips happening every month, I do believe it would be time to clean up this page and make a separate page for each past year. Champagne 15:46, 9 March 2007 (PST)

subscribable calendar?

I wonder if the VOC should publish a calendar in a standard format so that people could subscribe to this calendar in their personal software. Then all the trips would just show up automatically and I wouldn't have to go and edit them by hand. Maybe the easiest way to do this would be to make a google calendar. I believe you can publish those in ical format. Just an idea. Scott Webster 13:14, 16 November 2007 (PST)

The UVic Outdoors Club has a sweet calendar system, but it's obviously not user-friendly. Scott's proposal does sound convenient since the Trip Agenda is starting to become saturated. I'm not a computer geek, so I don't know how easy this would be to implement. Champagne 13:54, 16 November 2007 (PST)
Maybe we should just switch to Facebook Scott Nelson
Like UBCO-VOCO... Champagne 15:36, 16 November 2007 (PST)
It wouldn't surprise me if a majority of our members thought this was a good idea. However, I don't think that is particularly relevant to my calendar idea, unless you were trying to suggest that using a google calendar is the same as using facebook. If that is a concern then this could certainly be done without using an external provider, though it might make it easier. Scott Webster 15:43, 16 November 2007 (PST)
It was a joke Scott Nelson 15:14, 24 December 2007 (PST)
I wrote a php script that parses the page and gives ical/vcal you can subscribe it with google etc. but my linux box has been down for some odd reason. When i come back from new year I will fix it and give you guys link.
I can see its joke from Scott being on Facebook. Without the ical feed probably good for site indexing.
