Archive:Elissa's Birthday Brew Hut Bonanza March 3-4 2007

March 4th is Elissa's birthday. In true VOC spirit, it would be unthinkable to have a birthday on a weekend and not find oneself somewhere lovely. Hopefully Brew Hut will provide just that lovely location next weekend, with warm mulled wine, a warm fire, warm friends, hearty food and hearty song... oh and hopefully more of the "mad pow" [sic] we "shredded" [sic] last weekend. The route in to Brew Hut is reasonably beginner friendly, and all are welcome, but you should have some winter camping skills, have carried an over night pack and have been on backcountry skis before. Snowshoers are also welcome, as long as there are more than one of you so that it doesn't matter if we split into two groups.

MAJOR UPDATE - we have an offer of a ride all the way up to the trail head in the powder mountain cat skiing cat for free. Please see the message board thread asap. -- Matthew 09:46, 2 March 2007 (PST)

It looks like all cars are planning to take the cat ride offer - drivers please be at the highway turn off at 6am to give us time to shuttle up to the cat skiing base by 6.30. It is very important we're not late. I suggest collecting your last passengers no later than 4:30am. -- Matthew 12:46, 2 March 2007 (PST)

ALICE FABRE: Nobody has your phone number. Please call Matthew, or your driver Mahdi (604 808 5476).

Equipment List

Please see the list for Intro to Backcountry Skiing 2007. Requirements are basically the same, except that you don't need a tent and you can make do with a lighter sleeping bag since Brew Hut has a wood stove and is well insulated.
