Description:
If you have chainsaw experience, bush clearing experience, or any experience related to trail clearing, we want you! (We still want you if you don't)
Another summer, another hut project. But before the wall can be built, we have some prep work to do.
The primary purpose of this trip is to improve the conditions on the Phelix trail. This is so that when the time comes to bring heavy, awkward, or ridiculous items up to the hut, we can all suffer a bit less. We might also be doing some other preperations for the construction, TBD.
The plan is to drive up on Saturday morning, and work on the trail all day. The sunset is at 9:30 PM, so we will most certainly have more daylight than energy. After a day of hard work, we will spend the night in the hut. Depending on the progress, we may continue to work on Sunday, or if conditions permit we can head up nearby peaks to do some fun scrambling.
Overnight backcountry experience is required.
Since this is a VOC workhike, the club will pay for gas provided you follow this system:
- Fill up with gas the night before the trip. Keep the receipt.
- Fill up with gas as soon as you get back from the trip. Keep the receipt.
- Email scans of both receipts to the VOC Treasurer (Zachary Wirth: [email protected]) and tell them what email/phone you use for e-transfer.
The VOC does not pay for flat tires, accidental damage, car washes, etc.
**I will be making Pink Floyd The Wall references on this trip in the spirit of the upcoming wall construction, thus all participants are required to be familiar with the album.** (joke)
