Description:

Harrison Hut is one of the four huts that the VOC runs and maintains, but we only have official access to it twice a year on the basis of hut and trail maintenance, due to various geological factors, logging, and wildlife. It’s hella remote but set in a beautiful location, the hidden gem of the VOCs huts if you will.

On this work hike, we’ll be conducting trail maintenance, carrying up firewood, and doing general hut upkeep. If anything else comes up I’ll edit it onto this page. We’ll be carrying handsaws and a chainsaw, so experience with chainsaw use would definitely be helpful. The plan now is to head up early Saturday mornin as it's a 6 hour drive. In terms of coming back we’ll  return on Monday evening as it's a holiday. As far the FSR goes its condition may be questionable, so be prepared for some bumps, high clearance 4x4 def recommended.

Overnight backcountry experience is mandatory on this trip, as it's the most remote and hard to access of all the VOC’s huts. Furthermore, adequate physical fitness and endurance to hike up with a heavy pack is required.

Lastly, the permit with which we gain access to the hut is very strict, so everyone committed to the trip must be fully committed to working. The hut is in a super beautiful location and we are very lucky to have the opportunity to go, thus we must be respectful and uphold our responsibilities
