bridge out
I'm not sure what people are referring to regarding the bridge being out on the Cerise FSR, so I thought I'd put some pics up here for clarity. The clubtread thread linked to in the article shows pictures of the old log, which is indeed unserviceable. However, there is a new bridge only slightly upstream that has been cobbled together with a log, some board, and nailed together with railway spikes. It would be easy to miss the new bridge if you didn't look around a bit at the creek, but I suppose it's possible that at high water the new bridge would be submerged. That said, unless it's truly unsatisfactory, I'm not really in favour of encouraging people to use the newly flagged route through the forest and blazing a whole new trail... -Lommer 11:44, 17 July 2009 (PDT)
- I think that bridge you used is very new. Ideally everyone would get together, determine the best overall route, and then use only that one. Unfortunately in reality it's a free for all, with some people flagging new routes, some people building new bridges etc. I'll post on Clubtread and bivouac about the existence of this new bridge. - I'll add that I'm not sure this new bridge is really suitable for the amount of traffic that this place gets. There log bridge back at the old road crossing point was bigger than this one I think and it already got destroyed when someone complained that it was unsafe. Scott Webster 14:12, 17 July 2009 (PDT)
The bridge didn't look that new, but I'll ask around and see if I can figure out who built it and when. The new bridge is definitely less safe than the old one, and I'd be very nervous using it if it was wet + slippery. -Lommer 16:17, 19 July 2009 (PDT)
- Note that as of September, 2009, the flagged route up the west side of Cerise Creek is the "official" summer trail, and is considerably faster. The upper bridge is not maintained. -Lommer 07:45, 8 June 2011 (PDT)
donation address
Is it just me or would it be a good idea to have the mailing address for donations somewhere online? This page perhaps. I can't seem to find it and that is preventing me from making a contribution. It's easy to find suggestions that you make a donation but for some reason the address doesn't seem to be as common. Any help would be much appreciated.
