Description:

I'm heading out on a 5 day cycle tour of Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast and am looking for people to join me! 🚲🏖️

This trip will be 5 days of cycling with beaches, forests and seaside views with camping at provincial parks.

We'll be following the popular circle route in the clockwise direction:

  1. Mon June 3rd: UBC -> Rathtrevor Beach (125 km incl. 57.0 km of Ferry)
  2. Tues June 4th: Rathtrevor -> Kin Beach (90.8 km)
  3. Wed June 5th: Kin Beach -> Saltery Bay (64.1 km incl. 30km of Ferry) (Chill Day 🙂 - option to combine with day 4)
  4. Thurs June 6th: Saltery Bay -> Porpoise Bay (80.1 km incl 18.9 km of Ferry)
  5. Fri June 7th: Porpoise Bay -> UBC (84.4 km incl. 18.2 km of ferry)

The pace will be pretty relaxed with stops along the way to buy food, sightsee and swim.

For this trip you should be comfortable cycling the distances above and with riding on highway sections (most of it is *allegedly* pretty calm but some sections are without shoulders).

Approximate Costs:

  • Ferries total: $51.05
  • Camping sites total: $115 -> for 4 people: $28.75 each
  • *Currently I've set the trip for 4 people but if theres interest I'm open to increasing that a bit

Rough packing list (to discuss pooling equipment at pre-trip):

  • Working reliable bike (route is essentially all paved, fine for road bikes)
  • Helmet required!
  • Rack to carry stuff on your bike
  • Spare tube, patch kit, multitool, minipump
  • Bike lights (+power bank recomended)
  • Water bottles
  • Sunscreen
  • Camping/sleeping supplies
