End: Sunday, Nov. 4th, 8:00 pm
Pre-trip meeting: Tuesday, Oct. 30th, 7:00 pm
Pre-trip meeting location: VOC Clubroom

Description:

***This trip counts as a WORKHIKE (as the title suggests). You need to complete a workhike sometime during the year in order to continue renting gear from the clubroom***

DRIVERS: We will reimburse your gas and vehicle wear & tear costs for the trip there and back.

Come help maintain the road to Brian Waddington (Phelix) Hut. Every year, the sliding alder in the area grows over the road and restricts vehicle access to the trailhead. Before winter and the ski season begin, we will drive up the road to clear as much of  the alder, leaning trees, and logs across the road as possible.

This is likely to only take up one full day on Saturday so we will probably spend the rest of the weekend doing something fun that the group can agree on. Options for this include, but are not limited to:

  • Hiking up to Phelix Hut if a lot of the people on the trip have never been before and are interested in checking it out
  • Driving to Skookumchuck hotsprings Saturday evening, chilling at the hotsprings Sunday morning and/or, hiking / snowshoeing to Joffree Lakes for the day

This trip is beginner friendly. This means that if we decide to hike any significant distance, we will wait for you but this doesn't mean that the hike won't be strenuous.

We plan to drive up Saturday morning and return sometime Sunday evening.
