Archive:September 12-13 Brew Hut
Brew is our most accessible Hut; about 5 km of hiking on a route which VOC has been improving for skiing. It has a wood burning heater, so expect to get warm in case you got cold and wet on the trip in.
Things you should bring
- boots that work in wet bush. It probably won't rain. waterproof clothes (jacket and maybe pants)
- a hat and gloves are good for warmth
- sweater, or fleece jacket.
- a sleeping bag, though it gets so warm in the Hut, this is almost optional. Sleeping mat of some sort.
- food, consisting of two lunches, one breakfast, one dinner. Eating utensils. (Bowl, spoon)
- There's a Coleman stove up there so we will bring white gas (naphtha) for five. You don't have to bring a stove.
Trip size is limited by (1) hut capacity and (2) rides.
Hut Capacity Hut is rated for 13, though 15 will work if it's nasty outside. If you bring a tent, that works, too.
Rides Roland's car is full. If you have a car, we can accommodate more people.
To bring your own car Email Roland [email protected] and he'll help you fill your car, if you wish.
Objectives Check out the Hut. Perhaps some New Members will get to see their Hut. Maybe cut a little firewood. Get some exercise. Sing songs. Eat blueberries.
Challenges The outhouse needs moving, so if you want a challenging project, go for it. If not, that's OK.
