Synopsis

A beginner-friendly day hike going up Lynn Peak trail.

Lynn Peak

The Lynn Peak trail is located in the Lynn Headwaters Regional Park. Lynn Peak is the southernmost summit on the divide between Lynn Creek and the Seymour River. The trail is usually accessed from the Lynn headwaters side, but can also be reached from the trails in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (LSCR).

To find out more, take a look at park map with trail information and Lynn Valley Headwaters website.

Access and driving directions

The park gate is at the end of Lynn Valley Road, and then it's about 1km along a paved road to the parking area. Note that the gate closes around sunset, so park outside the gate if planning on a late return. If your car is still there when the gate closes, a rescue operation will be initiated. map of location

The park is also public transit accessible. City Bus 228 (from Lonsdale Quay) stops right beside the park gate and the 210 (from downtown Vancouver) stops a block from the gate.

When is it?

The trip is Saturday, November 6th. I am open to change the date to Sunday depending on the weather and people's availabilities.

Pre-trip Meeting

We'll have a pre-trip meeting on Wednesday November 3 at 6pm in the VOC clubroom. We'll sort out how to get there and have a basic of hiking chit-chat, for those of us that are less experienced. Especially if you are new to the club you need to come to the pre-trip meeting. Also, we'll be making a list for people on the trip to leave with an emergency contact, so please remember to check and confirm your information by the end of the meeting. If you can't come to the meeting, let us know.

How tough is it

A relatively short 7 km round trip with about 921m of elevation gain. The later part of the trail gets steep, so some hiking experience and a reasonable level of fitness would be good. But it is less strenuous than Coliseum Mountain also in Lynn Headwaters Park.

Cost

Free trip, just get yourself to the Park by either public transport (bus number 228 from Lonsdale Quay, or 210 from downtown Vancouver) or with your/your friends car. Expect to pay your driver ca $5 per person for gas.
