Staging Areas
Possible Staging areas that have been suggested are:
- Gravel pit off Calcheck FSR, near Whistler Bungee
- 6.3km from hut site
- 500m elevation
- closer to Whistler than other staging areas.
- access from Calcehck FSR, which is a flat and smooth road.
- Empty Log sort on Roe Creek FSR
- ~5km from hut site
- 750m elevation)
- 6.7km of active logging road to reach staging area with some steeper hills (~10% grade). Regular 2wd cars and logging trucks are ok, but I don't know anything about the flatbed truck we are planning to rent. It will probably be ok.
- Brew Creek Lodge
- 5km from hut site
- 400m elevation)
- accessed by flat gravel road.
Helicopter Info
Helifor Industries will be doing some helilogging for Terminal Forest Products in the fall (september). They can probably move all the materials in 2 loads, and each trip is estimated to be about 15 minutes. The going rate for this helicopter is about $5000/hr, so that makes $2500 plus ferry costs. They can provide us with slings at no charge. In May, they will be logging South Creek, which is about a 10 minute flight over the pemberton icefield from Brew.

From Blackcomb Helicopter (April 2005)
New quote from Blackcomb Helicopter they estimates the cost between 3000-3500$ + tx for 10000lb of material. They suggest to fly from the Gravel pit not to far from the "whistler Bungee". They are available on Saturday may 21st.
From Black Tusk Helicopter
The hourly rate on the Bell 214B Heavy Lift is $4119.50 with fuel and tax. The flight time from Squamish to Roe Creek and back is 0.4 of an hour. The flight time from Roe Creek to Mt. Brew and back to Roe Creek is 0.3 of an hour. The wieght of 11000 lbs. should be pre-rigged and split into three loads. Fuel might be needed on site at Roe Creek, and we have a fuel truck for that for an additional cost. So 0.3 times three is 0.9, plus a 0.4 for the ferry back and forth to Squamish , for a total of 1.2 which equals $4943.40 not including the fuel truck. Cheers.
